Ponsonby was my favorite. Hands down. No questions asked.
I personally thought San Francisco was being taken over by hipsters, but really nothing compares to Ponsonby Central. Oh my word, the definition of hip.
For those who know San Francisco, Ponsonby Central can be compared to the Ferry Building and for those who don’t, check this out. It is one awesome cluster of buildings that is filled with home decor shops and a wide array of restaurants (this is where the meatballs came from). There is also a market that is locally sourced and features a meat counter, a seafood counter, a cheese counter, produce, and cafes. So basically everything anyone could ever want. Oh and lots of booze.
We went here a lot. And by a lot I mean, pretty much once a day.
So Auckland, thank you for Ponsonby – a little neighborhood packed tight with the hippest of the hip, which made us feel very at home, and a must see for anyone visiting Auckland.
Where have you most felt feelings of “home away from home”?
